Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar examines tools and approaches to studying the impact of online communication on various dimensions of politics. How does the interplay between new and traditional media influence the political system? What are the effects of an increasingly rich online information environment on knowledge levels, political behavior etc. among various publics? How do different types of Internet use affect people's willingness and ability to meaningfully participate in democratic processes? And what contributions can different strands of methodological approaches (surveys, network science, computational work, and experimental research) make to understanding how politics are shaped in increasingly polarized democratic societies
