Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Originally intensively discussed in debates on identity in postcolonial studies, the concept of hybridity has become an integral part of critical theoretical discussions in many fields of research - from law to the state, from politics to international development. We follow this expansion into multiple thematic contexts and use the discussion of hybridity to critically reflect on theory-led historical narratives. Starting with a discussion of key texts, we invite participants in this seminar to critically interrogate the conceptual binaries in their own research projects.
Assessment and permitted materials
In this seminar we combine the reading of central texts with a discussion of their relevance for our own research.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Regular attendance, participation in the discussion, presentation of own research in relation to the topic of the seminar.
