Aims, contents and method of the course

The interactions of magnetic fields with plasma flows are responsible for many astrophysical phenomena. The lecture introduces the equations of magnetohydrodynamics which are applied to explain magnetized winds, magnetic braking, magnetic buoyancy, stellar flares, pulsar magnetospheres as well as linear and non-linear magnetic waves.
