Aims, contents and method of the course

This KO is designed for students who want to acquire sound techniques for analyzing poetry. We will study some theoretic texts and the development of verse technique in history. What we study will be put into practice. We will also read some of the most beautiful texts in Russian literature.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of this KO is to liberate students of their fear (or dislike) of analysis of poetry by developing the ability to work with sound analytical techniqes.

Examination topics

A collection of theoretical texts and a list of poems will be put to use. Students are expected to prepare texts for discussion in class, some of them in the Russian original. Input by the teacher will interchange with input by students (outcomes of group discussions and short talks).
