Aims, contents and method of the course

Within this Colloquium, dialects and language varieties from south Slavic languages (čakavian, kajkavian, štokavian; urban varieties et al.) will be examined on examples from (contemporary) popular culture such as music, literature, film and TV.

Assessment and permitted materials

As the Colloquium implies continuous assessment of course work, students must attend. Students are expected reading the assigned literature, actively participating and taking part in discussions. The attendants will have to prepare assigned examination examples, the findings will be presented and discussed in class. At the end of the semester, there will be a written test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants preferably need good language skills. Basic requirement for positive grading: attendance (students may miss three classes maximum). Assessment criteria: active preparation, participation and involvement during the semester; presentation of examination examples, written test at the end of semester.

Reading list and literature will be provided at the beginning of the semester and will be constantly updated on Moodle.
