Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The adoption of Slavonic literature from the First Bulgarian Empire was the starting point of the South Slavonic influence on Old Russian. The so-called Second South Slavonic influence commencing in the late 14th century, which had its roots in the reformation of Slavonic literature on Mount Athos and in the Second Bulgarian Empire, had again a strong impact on Russian. Conversely, Russian influenced the South Slavonic languages from the 17th century onwards until recent times. This course analyses these processes of linguistic interaction from both a philological and historical point of view.
