Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to provide practical training in modern methods of corpus linguistics using Russian and Ukrainian material. One of the focal points will be on corpus building for various specific purposes. In addition, students will be given more opportunities to clarify questions about corpora.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students are expected to make an active contribution (homework, discussion, collaboration), which is taken into account in their grades. The most important contribution to performance assessment is a semester paper on topics chosen by the students that concludes the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

As a minimum requirement for a positive assessment, students must complete a written seminar paper on the topics covered, in addition to their own active contribution (homework, discussion, collaboration). To successfully complete this seminar paper, at least more than half of the possible number of points must be achieved.

Examination topics

The examination material is derived from the corpus linguistic topics covered on the basis of the prescribed literature.
