Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The focus of this PS is on solutions to the many challenges that can arise in inclusive settings with pupils who are blind or visually impaired.
The topic of hearing impairment and language development will be covered on one afternoon with the support of a guest speaker.

- Is joint teaching with learners with sensory impairments feasible?
- Development of social skills through empathy, independence in LPF, O&M, realistic self-assessment
- Teachers for the blind and visually impaired vs. school assistance - the fine line between support and social isolation
- Accessible learning materials
- Drawing geometrically
- Map work in GWK
- Orientation and mobility
- Practical life skills
- The different braille systems (full braille, shorthand, computer braille, math braille, ...)
- The various aids (board camera systems, Braille displays, use of laptops and tablets)
- Accessible software
- Joint sports lessons

Assessment and permitted materials

Note from the SPL:
The use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for the production of texts is only permitted if this is expressly requested by the course instructor (e.g. for individual work tasks).

Active participation in various self-experiences.
Regular attendance, or written notification of absence if unable to attend, and provision of written compensation.
Punctual attendance at the respective locations.
All individual partial examinations/work assignments must be positive in order to complete the PS positively.
-) first part of the examination => read and translate one A4 page with double line spacing 8-point Braille by eye
-) second partial examination => work assignment -> prepare 2 worksheets barrier-free, linearize like mathematics blackboard picture of the lower level
-third partial examination => work assignment -> create simple graphic templates with a vector graphics program
-) fourth grade basis is attendance

- The dot combinations of 8-dot computer braille
- Knowledge of how to create accessible documents
- Knowledge of ways to prepare graphics for tactile use.
