Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims and Competencies

1. students are able to assess learners with regard to their performance level, prior knowledge, learning styles, learning pace, interests and motivations (diagnostic competence) and to design methodical-didactic actions based on this (didactic competence).
2. they know formative formats of feedback and performance assessment and have tested and reflected on these in their teaching.
3. the students have specific knowledge of the conceptual and action spectrum of educational tasks of the school through critical discussion of literature essential for the subject area and can identify current problem areas of education and instruction. They can comment on them in a differentiated manner on the basis of their knowledge of educational and learning sciences.
4. they have insights into the social, political and economic framework conditions in their contemporary historical context of learning, socialization and educational processes and can critically examine fundamental dimensions of the concept of education and translate them into their subject logics.
5. students are able to problematize the effects of societal conditions in their contemporary historical context for learning in school and to point out possible solutions on the basis of literature and studies.
6. students perceive themselves as representatives of their profession and are able to express themselves in a well-founded way in public (e.g. in the form of a letter to the editor, a discussion contribution in social media, etc.).

Assessment and permitted materials

Contributions to the Portfolio:
- A literature review on a selected topic
- Development of at least one paper review
-A theory-based, written analysis of one's own pedagogical actions with regard to the influences of social, political, or economic conditions
-A letter to the editor or an entry in a social media channel on a selected topic relevant to the school (keyword: public responsibility of professional teachers).
The scope of the collected, written entries will include a minimum total of 20,000 characters, excluding references.
The form of the individual contributions are to be coordinated with the course instructor in the form of abstracts.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The submission of an abstract as preparation for the design of the portfolio contributions; portfolio contributions on various self-selected topics of the lecture to the extent specified;
Formally correct elaboration, correct and consistent citation; adherence to good scientific practice with regard to the treatment of issues; consistent and comprehensible argumentation, linguistically elaborate expression, comprehensible independent positioning.
