Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Beginning to study at the university can be associated with questions and uncertainties: What courses to register, when and how? How does the online service work? I don't know anyone and want to make friends. Who can help me with all this?
As a peer mentor, you will support first-year students in their entry into the teacher education program - and at the same time develop your own personal and social skills in the process.
The course consists of an initial training as a peer mentor. The objective is to develop social and personal competencies in the mentoring context, which can subsequently be implemented in the teaching profession and in the school environment. Course content addresses understanding and reflecting on mentoring processes, group processes, communication and feedback strategies, and accompanying learning processes. The training includes a one-day workshop from the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) on guiding groups. Further half-day workshops of the CTL with relevant topics (e.g. learning strategies, procrastination, heterogeneous learning groups) can optionally be attended free of charge as part of the mentoring training.
