Basic principles of chromatographic methods (separation mechanisms, categorization of techniques, theoretical background); discussion of individual chromatographic techniques: thin layer chromatography (TLC), column chromatography (CC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC); in each case: characteristic features, apparatus, development techniques, methods of detection, applications; how to judge the separation quality of a system, quantitative aspects (quantitation of elution curves as well as inner chromatograms); validation of chromatographic methods; related techniques (SFC, capillary electrophoresis)
