Aims, contents and method of the course
This one-day course will provide students with the range of different academic language and legal skills needed to help support doctoral success. On completion of the course, participants will have a good understanding as to how to structure a doctoral thesis appropriately and produce a piece of work that is well-written, well presented, and thoroughly referenced.The course will be divided into four modules, during which we will cover the following areas: language, grammar and punctuation, writing correct paragraphs, referencing and avoiding plagiarism, and drafting an abstract. The materials have been designed in such a way as to maximise student participation in what will be an interesting, useful, and entertaining session.
