To familiarize students with recent theoretical interventions and key critical debates in the field of cultural studies; to develop students' understanding of postmodernism, post-strucutalism, feminism and post-colonial theory; to develop students' understanding of the flows, exchanges and translations of culture across space and time; to review ideas of culture as a terrain in which different ideas, meanings, identities and ways of life are fought out.
