Lecture with written examination. Resources will be available at moodle; during the lecture the issues presented will be discussed deeper than in the uploaded material. Questions are to be answered according to the resources at moodle.

Knowing the ancient oriental belief systems in the context of the development of the specific institutions in society, state, and politics. Knowledge of pre-Islamic religiosity in the Arab world. Development of Islamic institutions until today.. Knowledge of the specific development in the Ottoman empire Central Asia, and Turkey, esp., the institutions.
