Information

Examination topics

Chapter 1-14 from the book and possibly additional literature (if there is additional literature, it will be announced in the lecture).

Assessment and permitted materials

Digital exam format: A mix of MC and open questions in open-book format. There will be a total of 15 MC questions and 5 open questions. Of these 5 questions, 4 can be answered in a few sentences. The last open question is an "ordinary" long question, as it was asked in the past in regular presence tests.

Grading key: It remains unchanged compared to regular presence tests. So there will be a total of 30 points. Each MC question can give you 1 point. For the short open questions 2.5 points per question can be achieved (10 points in total) and for the long question 5 points.

***** Format for presence exam *****

Exam, 25 Multiple Choice Questions, 1 Open Format Question
Exam can be taken in English or German

*****PLEASE NOTE: ALLOWED MATERIALS FOR ONLINE EXAM*****
Allowed to use for online open book exams: Neuroscience - Exploring the Brain; Bear, Connors, Paradiso, 4th, International edition

IMPORTANT: When answering the open questions, do not copy sentences 1:1 from the book. If you do so, we must classify the exam as a plagiarism.

Update from the 25th of November 2020:
Only the use of the above-mentioned allowed material (textbook Bear et al.) is permitted in the examination, all other sources (lecture notes, other students, internet pages, joint summaries etc.) are explicitely not permitted. If sentences, or paragraphs, are taken directly or even slightly modified (e.g. only 1-2 words in the sentence is changed) from the book without being explicitly cited as a direct or indirect quote (APA-Style) then we must classify the written/open examination as plagiarism.
