The course introduces students to the mathematical physics of quantum mechanical many-body systems. The main emphasis is on Stability of Matter and the physics of cold quantum gases and Bose-Einstein condensation. The physical ideas and mathematical techniques from nonlinear functional analysis that are developed in the course are also important in other areas of physics and mathematics (continuum mechanics and hydrodynamics; variational calculus and nonlinear partial differential equations.)
