Examination topics
Current material-related safety problems of different plant types (including some non-nuclear) and their considerable risk contributions are demonstrated for selected examples. Technical and economical feasibility are to be discussed in interrelations between risks of power production, growing energy demand, availability of ressources and limits of economic growth. The focus will be related inter- and transdisciplinare research methods. Excursions to (mainly foreign) nuclear installations enhance practical understanding of their current risk problems.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
One goal of this lecture is to understand the risks of nuclear power as well as power production in general (as part of the so-called "critical infrastructure") as well as the possibilities and limits of risk mitigation. A superior goal is to understand the global importance of the above topics for our society including the important role of inter- and transdisciplinary considerations.
