Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Middle Welsh, the language of Wales in the Middle Ages, possesses, together with Old Irish, the richest literary tradition of the time period. The first half of the course deals with the history, the genres and topics of Middle Welsh Literature as well as the extant manuscripts, and continues with a survey of the grammar. The course finishes with an introduction to one of the important narrative texts of Middle Welsh.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course is intended to provide the students with an overview of Middle Welsh as a Celtic language of the Middle Ages. Additionally, it serves as a preparatory course for an in-depth translation course in the following semester.
